傳奇女高音凱薩琳・芭托（Kathleen Battle）演唱生涯中，曾在大都會歌劇院演唱超過220場。先前曾超過20年不曾現身大都會歌劇院，如今將於2016年11月17日再度登台獻藝。為此SONY唱片公司特別整理她的所有專輯，收集成這一套10張CD之產品，讓不曾體驗其魅力的樂迷得以領受其天籟般的美好歌聲。

芭托令人印象深刻的演唱生涯始自1973年，在精神導師李汶（James Levine）協助下，於他們共同的故鄉辛辛那提正式啟航。從此她的演唱事業不斷翻越高峰：曾獲得五座葛萊美獎之肯定，1985年在倫敦柯芬園演出史特勞斯的《納克索斯島的阿麗雅德妮》獲得奧利佛獎，為首位獲此殊榮的美國歌唱家。華盛頓郵報稱其為「世上少有的最美歌聲之一」。

專輯包含芭托9張最受推崇的錄音室作品，其中最早的錄音是1984年由馬捷爾指揮維也納愛樂管弦樂團所演出的馬勒第四號交響曲，BBC音樂雜誌評論本錄音為「最偉大的馬勒《第四號交響曲》之一…芭托在終樂章『神奇魔號』的旋律中聖潔的演唱，予人純粹的喜悅！」

專輯中大部分的錄音都完成於一九九〇年代，當時芭托已經鮮少在歌劇院中露臉，只在音樂會與獨唱會中現身。而這個時期她也跨足通俗歌曲、爵士、民謠、黑人靈歌等非古典的曲目。更特別的是她還曾與爵士小喇叭演奏家馬沙利斯（Wynton Marsalis）合作巴洛克音樂專輯，演出巴哈、韓德爾與史卡拉第的作品。

1991年於卡內基音樂廳現場錄製的聖誕專輯，邀請了次女高音馮・史黛德（Von Stade）一同演出最受歡迎的聖誕節慶選曲，並由普列文（André Previn）指揮聖路克管弦樂團伴奏。而同年她也與長笛大師朗帕爾（Jean-Pierre Rampal）在林肯中心舉辦音樂會。留聲機雜誌表示：「芭托鈴聲般的純淨音色本身便是一件令人愉悅的事…其流暢性與均衡度，及完美穩定的歌聲都值得讚賞，而這些在當今更不常見」。美國唱片指南更進一步表示：「她那高貴、純粹的抒情女高音音色與長笛搭配完美…一且都很優美、花腔也都完美到位，幾個高音更猶如鑽石閃耀」。

1995年出版的「天使的榮耀」，成功地與吉他演奏家克里斯托弗．帕肯寧（Christopher Parkening）演出黑人靈歌與傳統聖樂作品。古典音樂網（ClassicalNet）表示：「她是一位罕見的藝術家之一，你總是會為她起立致敬…優美的演唱、精緻的分句，以及敏銳的音樂性」。

這一套10張CD的專輯也整理了以往她在RCA唱片公司的重要錄音，包括了1977年她在Ravinia音樂節所演唱的巴哈《婚禮清唱劇》，以及布拉姆斯《德意志安魂曲》中女高音獨唱的部分。由經常與她合作的李汶指揮芝加哥交響樂團伴奏。回想起第一次遇到芭托時，美國最重要的指揮李汶表示：「有些歌手少有天分卻擁有智慧來平衡技巧與音樂性的問題。有些則擁有天分與優美的歌聲，卻缺乏智慧。而我卻從沒有遇到過比她擁有更完整才華的人」。
